PX-Sens

Wireless temperature sensor specially designed for concrete temperature and curing monitoring. Measures concrete temperature from the same and different points with three thermocouple inputs. Also measures ambient temperature and humidity using a built-in sensor. After the thermocouple tips are directly embedded in concrete, it wirelessly transmits data to the PX-Gateway in real time.

Connecting Thermocouple Probes

  1. Identify the connector - Each probe has a miniature thermocouple connector with + and - markings
  2. Align the connector - Match the polarization notch with the port
  3. Insert firmly - Push until you feel a click
  4. Verify connection - The app will show readings within 5 seconds

Probe Placement Guidelines

For accurate concrete core temperature measurement:

  • Embed depth: Place probes at the geometric center of the concrete element
  • Avoid edges: Keep probes at least 50mm from formwork surfaces
  • Secure the probe: Use cable ties to prevent movement during pour
  • Protect the cable: Route cables away from pour zones

Power Management

Power On

Press and hold the power button for 1 second. The firmware does not run a fixed “all LEDs cyan” startup sequence; indicators update as charging, Bluetooth, and other subsystems initialize (for example LED 2 may show charging state after the fuel-gauge first reports).

Power Off

Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. All LEDs will blink orange to indicate shutdown pending.

Auto Power-Off

On a normal boot with no active recording session stored on the device, the firmware powers off after 5 minutes (300 seconds) of no Bluetooth connection (the timer pauses while BLE is connected so you can configure the device).

Charging

  • Connect USB-C cable to any 5V USB power source
  • LED 2 shows orange breathing animation while charging
  • LED 2 turns solid green (max brightness) when complete
  • A success sound plays when charging completes
  • Device can operate while charging

LED Indicators

These are the LED states that matter in normal use:

What you seeMeaning
LED 1 solid yellowSensor is powered on and idle
LED 2 orange breathingBattery is charging
LED 2 solid greenCharging is complete
LED 2 brief red pulseLow-battery alert
LED 3 solid blueConnected to the mobile app over Bluetooth
LED 3 slow dim blue blinkBLE is available for connection in some session-recovery flows
All LEDs blinking orangeShutdown pending; release the power button to turn the sensor off

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Wipe the enclosure with a damp cloth
  • Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners
  • Ensure ports are dry before connecting cables

Probe Care

  • Inspect probes regularly for damage
  • Do not bend probe tips sharply
  • Store probes coiled loosely (minimum 50mm diameter)
  • Replace probes if readings become erratic

Storage

  • Store in a dry location
  • Charge to ~50% for long-term storage
  • Avoid extreme temperatures

Troubleshooting

IssueSolution
Device won't power onCharge for at least 30 minutes
No temperature readingCheck probe connection; try a different channel
Erratic readingsReplace thermocouple probe
Can't connect via BluetoothPower cycle the device; ensure app has Bluetooth permissions
LED 3 won't turn blueEnsure Bluetooth is enabled on phone; restart app
LED 2 orange but never greenCheck USB cable/charger; allow sufficient time for a full charge (3000 mAh battery)
Unexpected LED behaviorPower cycle the sensor and compare with the LED Indicators section above
